In January 2026 River Capital deployed a six-figure investment to support a management buy-out at Shape Consulting Engineers Ltd, a Liverpool-based civil and structural engineering consultancy.
The investment funded through the North West Business Growth Loan Fund enabled Managing Director Barry Wilson to acquire a further 50% shareholding in the business taking his stake to 100%.
Founded in 2016, Shape Consulting Engineers has established itself as a trusted engineering partner across the North West, delivering civil and structural engineering solutions for residential, commercial, educational and community projects.
The business has demonstrated strong growth in recent years securing appointments to several key frameworks including ICN Framework, JV North, Torus and Fusion 21.
The 22-strong team works with leading housing associations including The Calico Group, Aspire and Sovini, alongside respected contractors and local authorities. The investment will support the creation of a further four positions in the future.
