Summary

The Business

Founded in 2021 by Managing Director James Beck, Powerhub Solutions is a Stockport-based energy optimisation business that has established itself as one of the UK’s leading providers of end-to-end energy reduction solutions for the commercial sector. The company designs, installs, commissions and verifies all of its solutions in-house — spanning Voltage Optimisation, KBR Energy Saving, IoT Energy Management Systems, and Solar PV — giving clients a single accountable partner and transparent, data-driven evidence of the savings delivered.

That full-stack approach sets Powerhub apart from single-technology competitors, and has helped it build a blue-chip client base including Burger King, NatWest, Moto Group, Costa, and Pets at Home.

The Challenge

Having delivered exceptional growth — 160% revenue growth year-on-year, with revenue forecast to almost double in FY2026 — Powerhub needed capital to keep pace with demand. The business required funding for recruitment, working capital, marketing, and continued development of its proprietary technology, at a moment when annual commercial and industrial electricity spend in the UK exceeds £30 billion and energy reduction has become a board-level priority for businesses facing tightening net-zero obligations and ESG reporting requirements.

The Solution

River Capital provided a £500,000 growth loan through the North West Business Growth Loan Fund, with a further £250,000 already approved in principle for future drawdown — underscoring River Capital’s confidence in Powerhub’s growth potential and long-term trajectory.

  • Mike Dinnell of Leonard Curtis worked closely with Tim Marlow of Contrado Capital to structure the finance and source the most appropriate long-term lending partner.
  • Capital is being directed towards recruitment, working capital, marketing, and proprietary technology development.
  • The funding underpins Powerhub’s ambition to become the UK’s leading vertically integrated energy reduction platform.

The Impact

  • 29 staff currently employed, with up to 25 new direct roles expected across sales, marketing and operations.
  • A further 50 indirect positions anticipated through Powerhub’s contractor network.
  • Revenue forecast to almost double in FY2026, building on 160% year-on-year growth.
  • A strengthened pipeline across a blue-chip client base already including Burger King, NatWest, Moto Group, Costa and Pets at Home.

“We’ve built something genuinely different in the energy reduction space — a full-stack, in-house model that gives clients one partner, one clear outcome, and real verified savings. The funding from River Capital gives us the headroom to scale our team, accelerate our pipeline, and deepen our technology offering without compromising on the quality our clients expect.”
