MAD Product Ltd secures six-figure investment to accelerate UK and international growth
River Capital has provided a significant six-figure investment to MAD Product Ltd, a fast-growing supplier of white-label sustainable tableware and party products. The funding will support continued expansion with major UK and international retailers, alongside investment in supply chain development and operational growth.
The investment has been provided through the North West Business Growth Loan Fund and will support MAD Product’s next phase of growth and innovation.
Since launching in 2020, the business has grown from a start-up into a multi-million-pound supplier serving many of the UK’s largest grocery and volume retailers. Today, MAD Product supplies approximately one in every five products sold within its category by major volume retailers across the UK.
The business works directly with major supermarkets as well as larger volume retailers, providing a unique, full category management service covering product sourcing, development, design, packaging, manufacturing and supply chain coordination.
The business is led by directors Claire Hatwell (Creative Director), Matthew Nelson (Commercial Director) and Daniel Forster (Sales Director), who each bring more than a decade of senior experience across FMCG and grocery retail. Together, they have built a lean, efficient operation that has sold more than 18 million products over the last 12 months.
Looking ahead, MAD Product plans to further strengthen relationships with UK retailers while accelerating its international growth strategy, with expansion opportunities already underway in France, Belgium, Spain and Australia.
Jim Moore, Investment Manager, River Capital
“What struck us about MAD Product from the outset was how much they’d achieved in a relatively short space of time. In just five years they’ve secured relationships with some of the UK’s biggest supermarkets, built a genuinely differentiated offer around sustainability and design, and developed a supply chain that keeps them competitive at scale. This investment will give them the platform to convert a very strong pipeline of confirmed opportunities into the next stage of growth.”
Matthew Nelson, Commercial Director, Mad Product Ltd
“We’ve grown quickly by staying focused on what we do well – providing major retailers with a genuinely differentiated category management service built around sustainability, design and commercial agility. This funding from River Capital gives us the resource to strengthen our supply chain, invest in our team and go after the significant opportunities we have in front of us, both in the UK and internationally.”
The funding package was introduced through NatWest, whose ongoing support is expected to include an expanded invoice discounting facility and trade finance solutions alongside River Capital’s investment.
