Debt Finance

Debt Finance is when a company borrows money to be paid back at a later date with interest added.

Debt means the amount of money which needs to be repaid back and financing means providing funds to be used in business activities.

Debt finance can be used in a variety of situations for businesses who are looking to grow and is one of the most common forms of finance used by SMEs across the UK.

Whether you are looking to start, expand or develop your business with a new premises, software project or if you are looking to increase your taskforce, then debt funding could be for you.

We work collaboratively with our funding partners, in addition to privately managed funds, to ensure the most suitable form of funding is offered to you and your business needs.

Key Takeaways
of Debt Finance

You remain in control of your company

The loan is time bound meaning it needs to be repaid along with interest at the end of the agreed period

It is likely that the loan will be secured against the assets of the company taking the loan

What is my role?

As part of the Debt Team, I look at funding propositions for businesses of all ages, shapes and sizes who are looking to grow, expand, consolidate or even get off the ground. My part of our business is to look at supporting entrepreneurs and companies looking for between £5,000 and £250,000. I lead on our Small Business Loan Fund which has enabled me to spend time with other small business lenders who are also part of the Responsible Finance network nationally. In addition, as our ESG Champion, I am looking at how our business can reduce its carbon footprint by working on a Net Zero project with the aim of reviewing working practices, energy usage etc to ensure we are playing our part in this critical area.
