River Capital’s fund: AI shortlisted for Growth Investor Award

Press Release:

River Capital are pleased to announce that its EIS AI Fund, ‘fund:AI’ has been shortlisted as a finalist at the prestigious Growth Investor Awards 2023 in the new product category.

It’s been a hugely competitive field of entries for this year’s Awards, hosted by Intelligent Partnership and with the standard so high, it’s pleasing to see fund:AI, the North’s first dedicated artificial intelligence fund achieving shortlisted status.

Now in their ninth year, the Growth Investor Awards are a key event in the investment industry calendar. The awards celebrate the companies and individuals who go above and beyond to support the UK’s growing businesses, and in doing so create jobs, boost economic growth, and support innovation.

The judging panel pride themselves on seeking out funds and firms that seek opportunities to use investment as a force for good. The Growth Investor Awards applaud traditional growth metrics as well as impact metrics. 2022 winners were selected for improving biodiversity, reducing carbon emissions and educating the masses on financial security and sustainability.

To get to the final itself is an achievement, but Award winners will have to stand out above the rest for achieving impact beyond investment.

Commenting on the announcement, River Capital Investment Director David Walters said:

We launched fund:AI in November 2022 having recognised the opportunity to support the North’s early stage and high growth AI and Big Data companies and is the North’s first dedicated AI fund. It is fantastic that we have been chosen as finalists in the new product category further supporting our hypothesis that AI investment outside of the South East is much needed.   The timing of fund:AI launching co-incided with a general upsurge in AI awareness although as a team we have years of experience of investing and operating in this technology sector.   It is our belief that AI represents the start of a new industrial revolution and offers society huge benefits in terms of health care, education, agri tech and many other applications of tech for good. “

Reflecting how far the industry has come in recent years, the Growth Investor Awards are bigger than ever this year. With 26 categories, and more than 75 opportunities to win an accolade.

The awards will be celebrated with a gala dinner at the prestigious London Hilton Park Lane, on the evening of November 23rd.

Commenting on the Growth Investor Awards ’23, Guy Tolhurst, Managing Director of Intelligent Partnership, said:

“Once again, our finalists have raised the bar for the growth investment community. We’re always so impressed by the vital work our finalists do to support fastest-growing UK SMEs and startups. Our categories are always competitive, but this year has exceeded all expectations. River Capital deserves huge congratulations for even making it into the final of Best New Product or Service because I know how stiff the competition was.”

Award submissions will now move to a second round of judging from an independent panel of judges. All scores are collated to determine the winner and runners-up, with the results announced at our Awards dinner in November.
